When Damien started Cooley Auctions in 2003 he had one clear vision – to put together the best auctioneering team in Australia. Now, as the auctioneer of choice for Australia’s most respected real estate agencies, his clients rely on his inimitable style and unsurpassed calibre of service to achieve consistently exceptional results.
At the helm of a rapidly growing, successful business Damien has received a number of accolades which stand as testament to his focus and unwavering commitment to his craft. In addition to sitting on the Board of the REINSW, Damien won the 2015 & 2013 Auctioneer of the Year at the Real Estate Business Awards as well as the 2013 REINSW Award for Excellence – John Greig OAM Community Service. In 2010 and 2008 Damien won the REINSW Awards for Excellence in Auctioneering as well as the Australian Property Institute’s Young Achiever of the Year Award in 2007. These commendations have reinforced his fine reputation and confirmed his status as one of the best in the business.
It is not surprising then that Damien holds the Australian record for the highest sale of a single dwelling home sold at auction when in November 2009 he sold 93 Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill for $23 million – a result well over the written reserve.
Damien’s experience extends to reality television where he has performed the winning auction on The Block five times and is the most booked auctioneer on the show making his ninth appearance in 2016. He has also performed auctions on other reality TV series, including The Renovators, Under the Hammer, Hot Auctions and Selling Houses Australia.
Recognised as contributing significantly to the revitalisation of Sydney’s auction market, in 2015 Damien sold $2.3 billion worth of real estate. Damien’s drive, enthusiasm and innate ability to read a crowd are invaluable assets when it comes to the fine art of auctioneering.
With a strong sense of responsibility to use his talent to help people in need, Damien conducts many charity auctions every year as well successful fundraising events. All of which has earned him a position on Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Streets Development Committee. Last August, the inaugural Real Estate Sleep Out raised almost $135,000 for Youth Off The Streets.
Fully licensed and specialising in all facets of residential and commercial real estate, Damien’s results speak for themselves and he consistently achieves an auction clearance rate well above the industry average.
